Nantes, 18 March 2010
Sercel announced today that deployment of the DSU3-428, an integrated digital sensor system for accurate, higher resolution data based on MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Sensor) technology, led to the high-quality completion of a 3D-3C seismic project.
Both the oil company client, Ecopetrol, and the seismic contractor, Compania Latinoamerican S.A. (CGL), were pleased by the smooth completion of the project ahead of schedule.
The high-resolution Tenerife survey, located in the east of Colombia near the city of Bucarramanga, called for a dense array of receiver points and CGL deployed a Sercel 428XL system equipped with 4200 DSU3s in order to meet their client’s specifications.
With a number of conventional 428XL acquisition systems already in their equipment inventory, CGL were very enthusiastic about their new system purchase. With the addition of both the DSU3 and the DSU3-BV, a marsh version of the product, to their equipment pool they are looking forward to being able to meet the fast growing demand for the product in Colombia.
Juan Carlos Pineda, Operations Manager for CGL, said: “Thanks to the operational efficiency provided by the DSU3-428 system, our first experience with this digital sensor system was a great success. The ease-of-layout, quick deployment and low power consumption ensured that we easily completed the project ahead of schedule with no problems.”
Pascal Rouiller, CEO of Sercel, said: “I am delighted that we were able to assist CGL in meeting their system requirements and finish their first 3-component acquisition project in good time. This news further confirms that the DSU3-428 system provides its end-users with the most effective operational system in the industry using a MEMS-based digital sensor unit. The DSU3 continues to prove to be power-efficient and reliable in all operations. We look forward to future successful deployments with such an important customer as CGL.”
