Proprietary Geoscience


The Proprietary Geoscience group at Robertson (UK) Limited combines expertise from the key disciplines of Seismic and Non-Seismic Geophysics, Structural Geology and petroleum geology, supported as required by staff from our Technical Services departments, Specialist Services and the Reservoir and Economics Group.

The Proprietary Geoscience group works on single client projects, utilising client-provided data (seismic, non-seismic, well and geological) alongside the Robertson (UK) Limited multi-client data library. Each project is tailor-made to suit the client’s specific objectives, scope of work, time-frame and budget.

Scales and services offered

  • Regional: Integrated geological and geophysical exploration studies of regions or countries to develop a clear understanding of all the possible plays and active petroleum systems, to better understand the petroleum geology and exploration risks/rewards.
  • Basin: Screening exploration opportunities - both conventional and unconventional, providing second opinions and support for licence round reviews.
  • Block: Undertaking data-room analysis and due diligence for farm-in and farm-out opportunities, evaluating plays/leads/prospects, undertaking detailed attribute analysis, development of analogue data systems.
  • Field: Field/prospect evaluations, review of seismic interpretation and dry hole analysis and suitability studies for underground storage.

Integration with in-house data

The proprietary exploration geoscience team is fully resourced, and, where appropriate, is able to utilise the large in-house non-exclusive database accumulated over 50 years of operations in nearly every basin in the world to provide our clients with a full range of exploration related consultancy and services. Our Tellus™ tool allows us to gain a good understanding of basins, plays chronostratigraphy and structural setting. Regional Multi-Client Studies can add a valuable data source and insights to our regional experience.
