TopSeis

Challenge:   Illuminating shallow targets
Solution:      TopSeis™

TopSeis was designed to solve the problem of missing near offsets in modern 3D surveys, and is just one of a range of innovative geometries such as StagSeis™ and BWATS™ we have designed to overcome specific illumination challenges.
Incorporating BroadSource™ and Full Source Characterization into TopSeis delivers ghost free data so that the upper frequencies are limited only by the sample interval and the absorption of the earth.
BroadSeis-Davros

Challenge:   Deep Imaging to 20km
Solution:      BroadSeis™

BroadSeis delivers the broadest bandwidths with the best low-noise low frequencies for deep imaging. We have recorded clear data down to 20km and beyond in our multi-client surveys offshore NW Australia and Gabon. Combined with BroadSource
we also simultaneously deliver ghost-free high frequencies for high resolution shallow data. We can design solutions for any bandwidth challenge with our comprehensive broadband toolbox,  which now includes Sentinel® MS.

StagSeis

Challenge:  Illuminating beneath complex overburdens
Solution:     StagSeis and B-WATS

StagSeis is a 'next-generation' solution for subsalt imaging designed to reduce exploration and production risk by providing the best seismic images below complex salt in the Gulf of Mexico. It addresses the most challenging areas where conventional wide azimuth acquisition fails to illuminate targets below complex overburdens. It includes a patented acquisition design (staggered vessel configuration) with very long offsets (up to 20km) and full azimuth coverage (up to 10km) for improved illumination.
Offshore West Africa, where the water is shallower and the salt has different characteristics, fold density, wide azimuths and near offsets are more important than long offsets, B-WATS was developed to deliver the required data, with sufficient near offsets for model-building and multiple attenuation.

WidePass

Challenge:   Rapid coverage for frontier exploration
Solution:      WidePassHD™

Advanced deblending enables a range of efficient dual or single vessel, multi-source solutions including WidePass HD to acquire data more quickly in frontier areas, or more data in the same timeframe where greater resolution is required.
With WidePassHD data can be acquired twice as fast as using a standard spread, while maintaining the same bin size and the same fold - the equivalent of a 24 x 100m spread, not yet available on any single vessel.
 
SI Mitigation

Challenge:   Eliminate Time-Sharing
Solution:      Seismic Interference Mitigation

In collaboration with StatOil and RIL, we developed a system of predicting the most challenging Seismic Interference (SI): broadside shot-to-shot coherent SI. With RIL co-ordinating all the acquisition contractors in the area, and improvements in SI attenuation algorithms, it has been possible to eliminate time-sharing in the Norwegian North Sea over the past two seasons.

We consult our customers and invest significantly in marine technology R&D to design solutions for the challenges of exploration, appraisal, development and production in today's industry environment.
