Palaeozoic and Mesozoic Reservoirs and Source Rocks, South-West England, UK

Course Description:

The Jurassic Coast of south-west England, a World Heritage site that includes spectacular outcrops of Devonian to Cretaceous sediments, is the focus of this course. An almost continuous sequence that reflects local tectonic and eustatic sea level variations includes reservoir rocks from a wealth of depositional settings: fluvio-deltaic, lacustrine, shallow marine, shelfal and deep marine basinal. This excursion also provides the opportunity to view extensive world class outcrops of Kimmeridge Clay source rocks.

This field trip can also be delivered in conjunction with our Clastic Reservoir Geology and Fluvial-deltaic Depositional Systems courses.
