This course begins with an introduction to UNIX. Participants become familiar with hardware and software through practice and presentations given throughout the course. A short field assignment is organized (3 weeks) to an active crew where students are able to visit every department to obtain a thorough understanding of the daily operations on the crew.Classroom presentations provide practical experience with the software where trainers are available at all times to support the participants’ learning experience. This takes place over 6 weeks and provides both theory and practical classes that include:• Study of seismic principles • Field tape processing• Instrument tests• Pre-processing• Positioning QC • Seismic processing and parameter analysisSurvey planning (2 weeks), mapping (1 week) are another practical aspects of the course.Health Safety and Environment are also explored within this program, and the theory is reinforced with the experience gained during the field trip.
