Audience

Anyone beginning their career as a processing or research geophysicists and needing the complete theoretical background and practical knowledge to launch them into early productivity and autonomy.

Content

The program includes a concentrated curriculum of geophysics fundamentals and a solid introduction to working with the processing software tools.

It begins with a review of the basic geophysical theories. Through classroom presentations or online learning a geological overview is given followed by an introduction to petroleum geology.

Both land and marine acquisition are presented with consideration given to project design, planning, equipment and operations. Environmental factors are discussed.

The role of seismic processing is outlined together with the major steps involved in a typical processing sequence. Interactive tools used for the seismic processing and quality control (QC) are shown.

Using real data participants actively carry out a processing sequence to produce a final migrated product. Exercises, group discussions and question and answer sessions solidify the learning throughout the course.

Technical presentation scenarios enable participants to develop both their technical and presentation skills.

The importance of quality control and project management is presented and emphasized. Finally the more advanced technologies such as SRME demultiple, 4D, wide azimuth, broadband and PSDM are presented.
