This course covers the theory and practical use of Strata, AVO, Emerge, RockSI and LithoSI, interactive programs that are fully linked within HampsonRussell software. Topics covered include:

  • Seismic Inversion - Provides a detailed overview of current seismic inversion methods
  • AVO Modeling & Analysis - Provides a comprehensive look at theory and application of the AVO method
  • Seismic Attribute Analysis - Provides a comprehensive review of how to use seismic sttributes to build robust relationship for prediction of petrophysical volumes
  • Rock Physics Modeling and Facies Probability Analysis - Provides an introduction to interactive rock physics modeling to construct robust elastic property logs for seismic inversion, and supervised Bayesian classification technique to predict facies probabilities from combinations of inverted elastic properties

    Learning Objectives

    • Covers both pre-stack and post-stack inversion.
    • Introduces AVO Inversion methods: Simultaneous Inversion, LMR and EI.
    • Application of neural network technology in well log prediction and petrophysical volume generation
    • Provides a comprehensive look at the theory and application of the AVAZ method
    • Basic introduction to Bayesian classification, multivariate Probability Density Functions (PDFs) and their optimization, Kernel Density Estimation
    • Combination of theory and practical exercises using the Strata, AVO, Emerge, RockSI and LithoSI software
    • At the conclusion of the course, participants will be better able to evaluate and undertake sesimic inversion, AVO, prediction of petrophysical volumes, understanding of rock physics and lithology classification projects
