Seismic Reservoir Characterization for Modeling

Audience

This course is suitable for geologists, geophysicists, petrophysicist, stratigraphers and sedimentologists who are looking to develop skills in reservoir modelling.

Content

This course emphasises the underlying geological and geophysical principles of seismic reservoir characterisation, seismic resolution, time/depth domain of the available data, integration of different disciplines (sedimentology, petrophysics, seismic, rock physics), uncertainty assessment and the limitation of the methods discussed. This course introduces seismic inversion techniques, which deliver earth models to be integrated into the 3D static modelling workflow. Stratigraphic grid building for both seismic inversion and static model building is discussed. Time-depth conversion as well as petro-elastic model building are presented, which are necessary to link the time domain seismic data to the depth domain static model. Most common geostatistical techniques for static model building are discussed during this course.
