This course is suitable for geologists, geophysicists, petrophysicist, stratigraphers and sedimentologists who are looking to develop skills in reservoir modelling.
This course emphasises the underlying geological and geophysical principles of seismic reservoir characterisation, seismic resolution, time/depth domain of the available data, integration of different disciplines (sedimentology, petrophysics, seismic, rock physics), uncertainty assessment and the limitation of the methods discussed. This course introduces seismic inversion techniques, which deliver earth models to be integrated into the 3D static modelling workflow. Stratigraphic grid building for both seismic inversion and static model building is discussed. Time-depth conversion as well as petro-elastic model building are presented, which are necessary to link the time domain seismic data to the depth domain static model. Most common geostatistical techniques for static model building are discussed during this course.- Introduction to seismic reservoir characterisation- Rock physic modelling- Well to seismic tie and forward modelling - Principle and use of AVO - Acoustic and elastic inversion for rock properties prediction- Vertical resolution assessment- Deterministic and stochastic approaches- Impact of seismic quality on quantitative modelling- Time depth conversion- Lateral/vertical upscaling/downscaling of derived inversion properties- Introduction to the use of geostatistics in reservoir characterisation- Static model building- Ranking of realisations
This course is for personnel who wish to extend their knowledge on how the seismic data can be used for 3D static model building and what are the limitation of the use of this information.
