CGG GeoSoftware Donates HampsonRussell software to University of Texas of the Permian Basin

Paris, France – March 7, 2017

CGG GeoSoftware has donated its HampsonRussell software suite, covering all aspects of reservoir characterization, to the University of Texas of the Permian Basin (UTPB) Geology Program. The donated software suite will enable students to better explore reservoir characterization and conduct further research on seismic inversion.

Sumit Verma, assistant professor of Geophysics and head of the UTPB Geology Program, said:  “HampsonRussell software is widely used by exploration and production companies around the world for their reservoir characterization needs. With this generous donation we will be able to train our students using the very latest geoscience technology and I look forward to using it to teach my Quantitative Interpretation class. By giving our students practical, hands-on experience with industry-leading software like HampsonRussell they will be fully prepared for careers with oil and gas companies from day one.”

Kamal al-Yahya, Senior Vice President, GeoSoftware, CGG, said: “CGG is firmly committed to investing in education to nurture the next generation of E&P professionals and help safeguard the future of oil and gas exploration. By donating our software to leading universities such as UTPB we are actively supporting their efforts to offer attractive and high-quality education programs that will train highly qualified geoscience professionals for the world’s leading oil and gas companies.”

CGG GeoSoftware has been donating its HampsonRussell software for research and training purposes since 1987 and over 129 universities and colleges now participate worldwide.
