For more than ten years, GeoSoftware China has spearheaded an annual forum that shares technical expertise and innovative techniques with the oil and gas industry.
Held in Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang province, the China Reservoir Geophysics Quantitative Seismic Interpretation Technology Forum allows our experts to introduce GeoSoftware’s technological development strategy, showcase the latest software advances and present integrated solutions for clastic, carbonate and shale gas reservoirs, including approaches for complex reservoir prediction and quantitative characterization.
Importantly, the GeoSoftware Technology Forum also offers a time-effective opportunity for executives and technology & service providers to meet, discuss the latest innovations and explore potential ways of working together.
This year, more than 150 people attended from multiple organizations including PetroChina, Sinopec, CNOOC, China Geological Survey Bureau, the Ministry of land and resources, Chengdu University of Technology. Other international oil companies also joined the conversation.
GeoSoftware China Regional Manager, Dr. He Xinwei, opened the event with a speech to the assembly.
In support were GeoSoftware VP Global Sales and Operations Vadim Khromov; GeoSoftware Product Strategy Manager Jimmy Ting; China Pre-sale Technical Manager Sun Shulin; and Dr. Lv Youliang.
Throughout, GeoSoftware's Chinese technical experts analyzed geological statistics and showed inversion techniques and theoretical development in applications for inclusion in project work. This year there were also 28 papers submitted for our clients to reference.
CGG Seismic Imaging Beijing Center's technical director, Mr. Yan Wei, also attended and was able to describe CGG’s wide range of high precision processing, imaging and interpretation solutions.
Significantly, the forum included fifteen technology experts who came from domestic oil fields to share how CGG software technology is applied in reservoirs.
This provided valuable 'real-world' examples of our products driving successes in the field.
The scope of the technical discussions were very broad with input covering exploration and development from carbonate to gas reservoirs; from land to sea; thin and thick layers; applications of broadband seismic; and time-lapse seismic in development and production.
Perhaps as important as the technical information being shared was the chance for attendees to undertake face-to-face networking - this is something sometimes neglected in our increasingly digital world.
Results from the forum indicate that software users gained a better understanding of new technology within the applications and how to apply it to their work, and are looking forward to future software development.
