CGG is planning to acquire long-offset 2D multi-client seismic data offshore East Africa, to link the recent discoveries of the Rovuma Basin across the West Somali Basin and Comoros Islands, into the Ambilobe and Majunga Basins offshore NW Madagascar, and extend out across the Indian Ocean.
Explore the GeoStore and see details of all CGG's multi-client data in this area.
This survey will investigate the nature of the crust between the African continent and Madagascar in the light of new evidence for continental crust underlying the Comoros Islands and help develop views on the rifting history in the region. All of these factors are significant for addressing the petroleum potential of the region. A number of relevant wells will be intersected.
The data will be processed through an advanced broadband workflow. This will not only increase resolution and improve characterization of the sedimentary systems, it will also provide deep penetration of low frequencies to help describe the nature of the deep crust.
