CGG is the ideal choice for marine acquisition in exploration areas. Our high-end seismic fleet is positioned across the regions giving us the global reach and experience to acquire data in frontier areas. We have a range of technology available for exploration surveys, including some solutions specifically designed for areas where the time window for acquisition is limited. As an integrated geoscience company we have the regional geological knowledge and subsurface imaging expertise to assist, if required, in the design of your survey to ensure that the best possible data is acquired for your exploration objectives.
The combination of BroadSeis and BroadSource is ideal for exploration as the broad bandwidths mean that multiple targets at different levels can be imaged – from high resolution shallow targets to low frequency deep subsalt or sub-basalt plays.
In deep-water areas we can acquire more coarsely sampled data in less time using WidePass, subject to geological conditions. These surveys are always validated by our Survey Evaluation and Design (SED) and Subsurface Imaging teams to ensure the sampling will be sufficient to image the target before they are undertaken. WidePass has many advantages over using a single vessel with an ultra-wide spread to acquire data with the same sampling, as it delivers:
We have extensive experience of acquiring data in remote and environmentally sensitive areas such as the Arctic. Eight of our vessels are classified as DNV-CLEAN for minimal environmental impact and all vessels run on low emission MGO (Marine Gas Oil). All vessels operate a strict “no spills” policy.
In addition to proprietary surveys, we acquire large amounts of data for our multi-client data library and hybrid surveys, which can sometimes be a more cost-effective means of acquiring exploration data.
