Rock Physics

Rock physics modeling and analysis are important components of every seismic reservoir characterization workflow. They integrate different types of subsurface data and provide the links between reservoir or engineering properties and elastic properties. A consistent rock physics model is essential when integrating different disciplines such as geology, geophysics, petrophysics, reservoir engineering and geomechanics.

With a well-calibrated rock physics model, you can:

  • Predict elastic properties (P-Velocity, S-Velocity and Density) based on input volumes from petrophysical interpretation
  • Integrate petrophysical (reservoir) properties and geophysical (elastic) properties
  • Generate consistent facies and fluids volumes
  • Predict and replace poor quality log data, missing (unrecorded) log data, and correct for invasion effects
