PDAC
Join us at PDAC 2024 in Toronto
We are looking forward to joining the mineral exploration and development community on March 3-6 at the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) Convention at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (MTCC), Toronto. Visit Booth #1228 and talk to one of our experts about life-of-mine intelligence for responsible resource exploration and mining risk management. We hope to see you there!

Meet Our Experts
Junior Potgieter, Head of Global Strategy
Junior is a geologist and with nearly 20 years of global experience in the conventional and unconventional hydrocarbon and mineral exploration and production. He has successfully led several, diverse, multi-disciplinary teams during regional and new venture evaluations and complex exploration and production programs. As a problem-solver he is passionate about promoting innovative, out-of-the-box thinking, the integration of data and clear reporting the results as useful information to the end-user.
Rik Brooymans, Technical Integrated Project Manager
Rik leads the Mining & Critical Minerals team for CGG’s Earth Data business line and is responsible for putting together large-scale, integrated data projects and products. Rik joined CGG in 2001 as a seismic data processor in its Calgary office and subsequently moved through its Houston and Aberdeen offices before taking on the role of regional center manager in Oman. In 2017 he returned to Houston and joined the Earth Data team, working first on CGG’s multi-client geology products and then moving to his current position in early 2021, bringing the same focus on producing best-in-class data to CGG’s mining business.
Stephen Hallinan, Multiphysics Director
Stephen is currently leading CGG’s Multiphysics group, based in Milan. The group provides services and software for data processing and integrated 3D & 4D inversion modeling of electromagnetics, gravity, magnetics, passive seismic and geological data, across the global geothermal, mining and oil and gas sectors. Stephen began his professional career working for Geosystem in Milan in 1994, bought by WesternGeco (Schlumberger) in 2007. He then set up Fugro Electromagnetics Italy in 2011, which became part of CGG in 2013. During his various assignments, Stephen has applied non-seismic geophysics to natural resource exploration, development and monitoring projects, across some 60 countries around the globe. Stephen graduated with a degree in geology from Trinity College, Dublin in 1987 followed by a PhD on the geophysics of the Miravalles geothermal field, Costa Rica from the Open University, UK in 1991. He also conducted post-doc work on gravity modeling of the southern Brazilian shield (Sao Paolo, 1992-93).
Oleg Valishin, New Ventures Director
Oleg holds a Master's degree in petroleum engineering from ENSPM (IFP School – France). After a few years with Schlumberger (oilfield services) in different field operations and management roles, he joined Sercel France in 2007. He held various positions in Business Unit management supervising Research & Development, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Marketing & Sales, Customer Support, Health & Safety & Environment and Human Resources. He then took position as Business Innovation Manager, supervising new businesses and diversification activities. Currently he is New Ventures Director, promoting Infrastructure Monitoring and Energy Transition (Geothermal, Carbon Sequestration & Storage, Natural Hydrogen, Mining, Onshore & Offshore Wind, Underwater Acoustics) businesses of Sercel and Geocomp (service subsidiary of Sercel).
Dean McMinn, Technical Business Development Associate
Mr Dean McMinn brings 30 years of operational, project management and evaluation experience in the resources and banking sectors. Dean completed a degree in applied geology at the University of Technology, Sydney, and completed a second degree in commerce majoring in Finance from Curtin University. He has held numerous leadership roles, working across many commodities and brings a wealth of experience in engaging with a broad range of stakeholders globally, including governments, investors, miners and communities. Dean is a Fellow of the AusIMM, a Chartered Professional (Geology), and was an elected committee member of the Consultant Society of AusIMM.
Alexandra Price, Business Development Associate
Alexandra has eight years of professional geoscience experience and is passionate about applying that knowledge to challenges in the natural resources sector with CGG in the Earth Data Minerals and Mining Team. She is delighted to apply her academic research to real-world problems and leverage her expertise to help CGG's clients responsibly source and extract mineral resources. Alexandra responsible for identifying, collecting, and curating data and information necessary to develop projects targeted to the global level in efforts to expand the mining and critical minerals market by delivering data-centric solutions to CGG clients. She is client-centered, dynamic, driven, enthusiastic, and highly invested in her building bridges across the energy sector.
Antonios Vytiniotis, Director of Consulting
Antonios has 24 years of academic and professional experience in geotechnical engineering, geotechnical earthquake engineering and geostructural engineering. Antonios is the Director of Geocomp’s Consulting Division with experience spanning in more than 20 states in USA and multiple countries. He has worked in multiple tailings dams around the world assessing their stability and safe operations and assessing geohazards in rock mines. Antonios has wide experience in geotechnical risk assessment, geozahard identification and slope stability.
Alfie Baines, Remote Sensing Geologist
Alfie works as a Remote Sensing Geologist in CGG’s Satellite Mapping team, where he provides mineral exploration insights using optical, radar and elevation data. These insight include regional (1:500,000 to 1:50,000) to local (1:25,000 to 1:2,000) scale geological and structural mapping, as well as mineral maps derived from multi- and hyper-spectral data. Alfie is particularly focused on issues surrounding the communication of spectral techniques and outputs, working to provide exploration geologists with the skills to understand outputs and integrate them into exploration workflows.
